Growing on the tree line, this isolated ancient wood of twisted and stunted Sessile oaks is a tiny remnant of how England once must have looked in primeval times.
It is, of course, haunted - by a pack of Yeth hounds, who begin their moorland hunting from here.
It is also a perfect backdrop for a Lord of the Rings scene.
