The last biplane fighter to equip the Royal Air Force, the Gladiator served with distinction at the start of the Second World War, although by then it was totally outclassed by the Luftwaffe's modern aircraft. Pictured is the sole survivor, (sporting Norwegian markings), which is preserved by the Shuttleworth Trust, who fly it as often as possible.
